Episode One — The Foundation Beneath the Vine
Every vineyard begins long before the first grape is picked.
At Dune Road Vineyard, the story begins beneath the surface — in the soil that will shape every vintage to come.
The first chapter of The Art of the Build invites you into the early stages of the vineyard’s creation — a moment rarely seen by the outside world. The quiet, careful work that happens before vines are planted and before the first bottle is ever poured.
Watch the Story Unfold
At Dune Road Vineyard, our journey begins beneath the surface. We sat down with owner Cameron and Toni-Maree Bishop for a chat.
Why This Land Matters
Behind Dune Road Vineyard is a family with a long history of building businesses, crafting experiences and working with their hands.
For Cameron and Toni Maree Bishop, vineyards are not unfamiliar territory. The couple previously owned and operated a vineyard for fourteen years, developing a deep understanding of both the rhythm of the land and the dedication required to grow exceptional wine.
Their experience, however, extends far beyond viticulture.
Over the years they have built and operated a diverse range of ventures — from jewellery craftsmanship to stone masonry and specialty retail. Toni Maree also spent more than two decades running a highly respected garment care service in Brisbane, recently stepping away after successfully building and operating the business for over twenty-six years.
Their shared story is one of creativity, resilience and craftsmanship — qualities that naturally translate into the careful creation of a vineyard.
A Family Vision
Dune Road Vineyard is also a generational story.
Their son Callvm brings a unique mix of skills and perspective to the project. His experience ranges from aviation as a helicopter pilot to precision craftsmanship through jewellery engraving and laser engraving businesses.
Together, the family brings a remarkable combination of experience, craftsmanship and vision to the vineyard.
Why They Chose This Property
When Cameron and Toni Maree first encountered this property, they recognised something special.
The landscape, the soil composition and the potential of the site all pointed toward the possibility of creating something meaningful.
For them, this vineyard represents more than a new venture.
It is the culmination of decades of experience — an opportunity to bring together their knowledge of land, craftsmanship and hospitality to create a destination that reflects their journey.
Dune Road Vineyard is not simply being planted.
It is being carefully built from the ground up, guided by people who understand that great things take time.
The Foundation Beneath the Vine
Great wine begins in the soil.
The structure, health and composition of the ground influence everything — vine health, grape flavour, balance and the character of the finished wine.
That is why the early stages of vineyard development are so important. Soil preparation and organic farming practices create a living ecosystem beneath the vines, forming the foundation for every vintage to come.
This work is quiet, patient and deliberate.
And it is here that the story truly begins.
Follow the Journey
The Art of the Build documents the creation of Dune Road Vineyard — from the preparation of the land to vine planting, the first harvest and the wines that will follow.
Because great wine is never simply made.
It is grown, nurtured and patiently brought to life.
